This is a rather large (3" x 2 1/2") diamond shaped brooch from the Victorian / Edwardian period. A 1" oval amethyst is in the center surrounded by a lovely fillagree with bead design enclosed with a "frame" goldwashed metal, then finished with a "rope" or twist edging. It has a "T" hindged pin and an open "C" clasp. The pin has a slight bend in it, and the stone has some minor dings that do not detract from it's beauty. These can be polished out if desired.
